Key Concepts and Questions on Jumbo Interactive

When I read through the Jumbo Interactive annual reports I understood nothing, everything is pretty new to me. But as I kept reading I had figured out what was going on and if Jumbo Interactive had succeeded throughout the years.

When I tried to look up the annual reports for Jumbo Interactive everything looked confusing, I did not know what annual reports I had to use.

Areas of the company’s financial statement I have difficulties understanding
When Looking at Jumbo Interactive home page It was difficult finding which statements I had to use for my excel spread sheet, I had looked at other peoples blog’s is the class and it had given me an idea. At first when I was scrolling down the page to find the right annual report, everything had looked similar. When I started to read through 2011 income statements and then looked at 2014 it wasn’t the same, it had different readings.

The areas of the business that seems most important or critical to me
In this business the total equity from the year 2011 to 2014 has improved. Equity has been challenged because I have noticed the dividends paid out are causing a big loss to the company.

The area’s that seem important to me and stand out in the annual reports is this company is trying to position itself in the market place by spending money on Marketing costs and Administrative Costs. Because of these expenses moving up this has contributed to the income for the owners of Jumbo Interactive to drop.

Key challenges of the firm and how successful it is in addressing them
The information on Jumbo interactive shows that they will continue this growth strategy to achieve a position in becoming a global leader in the online lottery industry.

Jumbo Interactive have many strategies to make this company successful. From 2011- to 2014 this company has become more professional but at a cost. By spending more than double on internal Administrative costs and spending money marketing costs. These costs are necessary in a company to create a solid foundation to cope with future growth but short-term money can be lost to the business.

Step Four
Key Concepts and Questions on Chapter 1

What do I find confusing?

After I had read through chapter one for the study guide I have gained better knowledge of accounting and my understanding of accounting is improving slowly. The First chapter tell's us what accounting is and also introduces business. After reading the first chapter everything looked hard, as I kept reading and reading it had gotten understandable. But what I find really confusing is the Maths of accounting, all these equations had me thinking. Accounting and Math weren't my favourite subjects at school; I had struggled through the years of high school. All these equations and terminology sounds confusing, but hopefully I will understand all this when I further my studies in accounting.

What I find difficult to understand or believe?

The Moment when I had heard that Accounting had been around for ages, it had me surprised how this was even true. The history of Accounting has been around since the 15th century. It is hard to believe that accounting has been practised ever since.
What do I find boring?

When I had started to read the first chapter of accounting, it had been pretty boring and felt like I was reading it over and over again. But the number one thing that had been boring to me was journals and ledgers; at first I didn't understand anything about this at all. Journals and ledgers to me were very hard to follow.

What do I find exciting or surprising?

When I was reading through chapter one everything was pretty exciting to me but the one thing that I found most exciting is QWERTY, when they have used this method for many years now, I did not know that they used the method through the typewriter, I had found this very surprising.
Key Concepts and Questions on Chapter 3

What do I find confusing?

After reading chapter three of the study guide I have gained better knowledge on finical statements of firms. But the number one thing that came across me so confusing is dividends and the equations that had been used for this. As you came across I am not good at maths, this was very hard to understand. But as I progress through accounting I will gain more knowledge about dividends and will be able to do these equations.

What I find difficult to understand or believe?

When I had first started accounting and hearing about this assignment everything I had heard had sounded difficult. But all this information and knowledge about chapter three is slowly coming back to me from high school as I read more. As I said from above the equations are difficult to understand, and as I keep reading and learning more about these equations these will become a lot easier for me.

What do I find boring?

When reading the first chapter about financial statements and firms, it seemed quite boring to me and I had to keep reading through this, so it had made sense.  But as I went over the chapter financial statements and firms had sunken in, more knowledge about chapter three was making more sense.

What do I find exciting or surprising?
As I was reading chapter three, the one thing that I found was exciting was the ratios and how they use this for accounting.

What I found surprising about chapter 3 three was the history of Financial statements this was very interesting to me.
